To clean the printhead, make sure the printer is powered off. Open the print cover and remove the print ribbon cartridge. Use a cleaning swab to clean the printhead back and forth. Put the print ribbon cartridge back in, close the cover, and your printhead is now clean. To run a cleaning card through the printer, open the cover, remove the print ribbon cartridge, and close the cover. Open the input hopper and remove any unprinted cards. Press the Enter button, navigate to maintenance, select cleaning card, and follow the on-screen prompts to clean the printer. Once the cleaning card is finished, place the print ribbon cartridge back in, close the cover, and you're ready to print.
