A driver may hold a class A, B, C, D, E, F, G, G1, G2, M, M with L condition, M1, M2, or M2 with L condition drivers licence, or combination. A full class G licence is required to apply for a Class A, B, C, D, E or F licence. A novice driver may not hold a classified licence or a driving instructors licence.
A Restricted Individual Drivers Licence has a large letter R on it to alert police that you are a Restricted Individual. It also has a special condition called condition 47 printed on the back. The condition explains the driving restrictions and condition expiry date.
While the terms may differ Ontarios G1 and G2 are essentially Albertas Class 7 and Class 5 GDL, respectively they can be thought of generically as learners, probationary, and full licenses. In general, drivers with learners permits require a fully licensed driver in the front seat while theyre driving.
Class G. Allowed to drive any car, van or small truck or combination of vehicle and towed vehicle up to 11,000 kilograms provided the vehicle towed is not over 4,600 kilograms.
What kind of licence? In Ontario, there are 12 different classes of licences. Each one qualifies you to drive a different type of vehicle. The class of licence you have must match the type of vehicle you are driving.
Having an N means you are now a novice driver and are allowed to drive on your own. Its important to follow the restrictions of graduated licensing when you get your N. If you violate these restrictions or get any other tickets or prohibitions, you must pay graduated licensing penalties. ​
