We all make mistakes when we type. Luckily, Word comes with several different tools that can help you proofread your document, and correct any mistakes. Lets take a look. To run a full spelling and grammar check, go to the Review tab click the Spelling and Grammar command and a pane will open on the right. From here, Word will walk you through the errors in your document. To correct an error, click one of their suggestions then click Change. This will update your document, and also take you to the next error automatically. Now, spell check isnt perfect. Sometimes itll say a word is spelled wrong when it isntlike peoples names, street names, and other unique proper nouns. If that happens, you have a couple different options. Ignore will skip the word one time without changing it. Ignore All will skip the word every time it appears in your document. Add will add the word to your dictionary permanently, so it never comes up as an error again. Just make sure the word is spelled c

Spell Check Keyboard Shortcut for Microsoft Word. Hit Alt + F7 on your keyboard, and it will start with the first misspelled word. If the first highlighted word at the top of the list is correct, just hit Enter. Or you can arrow to the correct one, ignore it, or Add to Dictionary.
Go to Word Preferences. Under Authoring and Proofing Tools, select Spelling Grammar. If you want to use custom dictionaries, make sure the Suggest from main dictionary only check box is cleared. Select Dictionaries.
Heres how. Click File Options Proofing, clear the Check spelling as you type box, and click OK. To turn spell check back on, repeat the process and select the Check spelling as you type box. To check spelling manually, click Review Spelling Grammar.
Tip: To check the spelling and grammar in just a sentence or paragraph, select the text you want to check and then press F7.
Use dynamic spelling To enable dynamic spelling, choose Edit Spelling Dynamic Spelling. Potentially misspelled words are underlined in your document. Right-click (Windows) or Control-click (Mac OS) the underlined word, and do one of the following: Select a suggested correction.
Step 1: Make sure the file is opened. Step 2: Click on the File tab in the menu bar and select Options. Step 3: Select Proofing. Step 4: Make sure Check spelling as you type is checked under When Correcting Spelling and Grammar in Word, then click Ok.
Click File Options Proofing, clear the Check spelling as you type box, and click OK. To turn spell check back on, repeat the process and select the Check spelling as you type box. To check spelling manually, click Review Spelling Grammar.
To start a check of the spelling and grammar in your document, just press F7.
