Open Microsoft Word, go to the insert tab on the ribbon, and select the chart icon. Once the chart wizard window has opened, select column and then select clustered bar type. Then select OK.
Column and bar charts show discrete data, where each variable is unrelated to the next. They are commonly confused with Histograms which instead work with continuous data, and show how the data is distributed across a range of values such as time or distance.
A bar chart is a type of graph that is used to show and compare different measures for different categories of data or data series. This chart type can either be in horizontal or in a vertical orientation. In vertical form, it is usually called a column chart while in the horizontal form it is referred to a bar chart.
A column chart is a method of displaying data with categories represented by a rectanglesometimes called vertical bar charts. They allow easy comparisons among a number of items and trends analysis. In general, statistics and figures are difficult to understand when presented in tables or written format.
Column charts are effective for emphasizing the difference between values. Used to compare change between groups over time, column charts are easiest to read when the differences in data value are relatively large. If you have many categories to compare, a line graph might be easier to read.
Column charts are also known as vertical bar charts.
A bar chart (aka bar graph, column chart) plots numeric values for levels of a categorical feature as bars.
Also, column charts are a good choice when you have data with multiple categories, and when you want to be able to see comparisons side-by-side. Some examples of column charts are: A chart comparing the sales of different products over time. A chart comparing the performance of different teams in a competition.
Column chart Clustered column chart Compares values across categories. Stacked column chart Shows the relationship of individual items to the whole, comparing the contribution of each value to a total across categories.
