First-person is often a narrative perspective that's tricky to get right. The first-person narrator, more than any other type of narrator, is inclined to lapse into self-centered telling, in which the narrating character overpowers the story at the expense of other characters and even the plot itself.
There is no rule that says that all parts of a story must be written in the same POV. Diana Gabaldon's bestselling novel Dragonfly in Amber mixed first person and third person POV throughout the story. The reader was never confused. And that's what matters — you want your reader to never be confused.
“The second person POV brings the reader closer to the narrator, making the reading experience more intimate and less detached. When the narrator turns the reader into one of the characters, the story feels immediate and surrounding.” Greater intimacy, however, is not the only result of this viewpoint.
Lesson Summary First Person: I, me, my, mine, we, our, us. Second Person: You, your. Third Person: He, she, it, him, her, his, hers, they, them, their, theirs.
First person: I, we, me, us. Second person: you. Third person: he, she, it, they, him, her, them.
It's not as easy as you'd think to write in first person. Although it seems natural to speak in the voice of a single character, since you've practiced all your life, there are some tricks to learn and pitfalls to avoid. For instance, there isn't only one kind of first person writing.
The chief reason many agents and editors prefer third person and call it the “professional” POV, is that the overwhelming percentage of successful books and bestsellers are written in third person. This isn't an accident. There are reasons this is the case.

And that's what matters — you want your reader to never be confused.
Another reason many choose a first-person narrator is that it seems easier to newer writers. Many (many!) first novels are written with characters saying and thinking things the writer him- or herself thinks in their own minds.
First, second, and third person are ways of describing points of view. First person is the I/we perspective. Second person is the you perspective. Third person is the he/she/it/they perspective.
