heres an example of a Verse Chorus pair um that really contrasts quite a bit in spite of the fact that its built over the same core progression so one of the first things you can do if youre stuck for ideas for how to create a contrasting verse and chorus is take the same core progression and write a variation on it you can uh use the pitch variations or in this case I use the rhythmic variations for instance in the verse you hear this version of the a minor Dorian progression notice that the chord rhythm is irregular notice that its a two bar harmonic phrase but its just two chords A minor and D in the chorus however this is uh the version of the same chord progression that I used used a minor D A minor D notice that here the chord rhythm is very regular notice that its only a one bar harmonic phrase so thats one way of contrasting another way I set it up to be contrasting is uh theres four lyric phrases in the verse theres only two lyric phrases in the chorus um so you will

Dear Lord, do not allow me to conform to the things of this world, but transform me by renewing my mind. Help me to see and understand Your good, pleasing will. Help me to offer my body, my time, my gifts and my mind, to You as a perfect, pleasing sacrifice. This will be my act of worship.
2 Do not become like the people who belong to this world . But let God completely change the way that you think, so that you live differently. Then you will understand what God wants you to do. You will know what is good.
