Our outward goods, however small, are enough for the Lord; He does not weigh the sacrifice by how much is offered, but out of how much it is offered. The kingdom of God is not to be valued at a certain price, but whatever a man has, much or little, is equally available.
Christ specifically tells the disciples they will receive anything they askbut only if they have faith. This means trust in God and His power to do what He wants to do. It also means an alignment with the will of Godit does not mean using the Creator as a vending machine.
Nevertheless, Abraham believed the promise, and his faith was reckoned to him as righteousness (4:22). Righteousness in the biblical sense often has to do with right relationships. Abraham was rightly related to God through his faith, and so he was considered by God as righteous. gives life to the dead.
So verse 20 says, Yet, with respect to the promise of God, he did not waver in unbelief but grew strong in faith, giving glory to God. Faith gives God glory because it shows that God can and will do the great, necessary good that humans cant do.
And this is the verse, that I chose. John 3:30. He must increase, but I must decrease. Its John the Baptist talking about Jesus, saying his purpose in this world is to decrease. Thats what he must do, and Jesus must increase.
He never stopped believing Gods promise, for he was made strong in his faith to father a child. And because he was mighty in faith and convinced that God had all the power needed to fulfill his promises, Abraham glorified God!
Simply put, praying Gods Word means speaking His language. It means talking to Him using His words. Dont waste time looking for a formula or right way to pray Gods Word back to Him. This process comes from what is in your heart and on your mind.
Gods direct intervention and initiative is well emphasized in this allegory. God takes, sets, breaks off, plants, brings low, makes high, dries up, and makes flourish. God controls the action in this parable. The tree will grow and produce fruit, but even these actions are under the watchful attention of God.
