If youd ever like to update your existing W-9, go to your Credentials page and locate your W-9. Click the Manage button on the right and select the Replace option. You should then be able to fill in the W-9 form again.
The IRS last revised Form W-9 in October 2018. The updated Form W-9 adds Line 3b for flow-through entities (e.g., partnerships, trusts or estates) with direct or indirect foreign partners, owners or beneficiaries.
In general, income that results from a W-9 arrangement is not subject to IRS withholding. Rather, it is the payees responsibility to claim the income on his or her tax return and to pay any appropriate taxes.
A Form W-9 must be completed by one party and furnished to a second party if the second party is going to furnish specific types of payments in the future. Most broadly, Form W-9 must be filled out by independent contractors that perform work for another party with which they are not employed.
