If your official job title does not align with the work you are doing you can change it. There is no standardized list of job titles. Some job titles are company specific and do not match the titles that the industry uses so when you are applying for jobs you may need to change some of your job titles in your resume.
Remember that employers conduct background checks on applicants that include calling past employers. If your old employer cant verify that you worked for them because you listed a different job title on your resume, youll look dishonest and be disqualified.
Both should summarize your qualifications, career highlights, and areas of expertise. You can rename this section with an appropriate title. Some possible titles include Profile, Competencies, Professional Background, Accomplishments, or Areas of Strength.

Job title inflation is the increasing number and size of grandiose job titles in corporations and organisations, without a corresponding increase in pay or an increased importance of the job.
While many hiring managers accept an applicants changing a job title if it more accurately represents what they did and their achievements, its a risky move. Many will view it as lying. Instead, highlight your achievements and skills on your resume, and stick with an accurate title.
Example: As much as I enjoy being part of this company, I dont feel like Im a good fit for this unit. I feel Im more effective and productive when I work independently, rather than in a group, and I see theres a night-shift manager position open in the warehouse division. Id like to be considered for the job.
Use a combination resume format The combination format is beneficial if youre switching careers because it shifts the focus away from work experience and focuses on the skills you have developed, even if you developed them in a different industry, through ongoing education, internships or volunteer work.
The best idea, in this case, is to create two separate entries for each (old and new) position. Use your company name as an umbrella title. Then, list a set of new duties under the manager position and your original duties under the previous job title. Theres no need to repeat the original duties twice on your resume.
The most important principle to keep in mind is this: Its okay to change a job title on your resume if it helps recruiters understand what you actually did. On the other hand, if youre just trying to make your job sound relevant or impressive than it actually was, dont do it.
