Merge tags are automatically created for document generation form fields. These tags merge data values from the form fields with the document template. Lets look at the Customer Name field from the Form Preview tab. Click on the Merge Tags tab to view the generated merge tags for this field. To use a merge tag, copy and paste it into the proper position in the document template. While you can immediately use the default merge tags in the document template, you have the option to edit them first. Edit merged tags to shorten or reformat for easy reference in the XML, make them concise and descriptive, and allow fields with the same name on the form by indicating different merge tags.
