In this video I'd like to show you how to insert a symbol in Microsoft Word. And this can be pretty useful when you're looking for a character, a graphic, or some type of image that isn't available on the keyboard. So let me show you what I mean. If I go to, actually first let's dial up this font so it's easier for you to see, if I go to Insert and then Symbol notice first of all that I have a lot of symbols, some of these I've used recently, some I have not. But they give me a lot of symbols here. I'm going to go ahead and go to More Symbols. And then here we have a whole bunch of different symbols we can use. I like to use the mathematical operators for some of the work I do. To type the Delta symbol, you first need to make sure that you have the Num Lock on to activate the numbers in the number pad. Then press and hold the Alt key and type 30. Alt + 30 is the keyboard sequence to enter the Delta symbol. Or to be more precise, it inserts the preferred Black Up-Pointing Triangle symbol.
Use the keyboard shortcut ALT + 30 (you need to hold the ALT key and then press 30 from the numeric keypad of your keyboard).
Another way to add numbers in Excel is to use the SUM function. To use the SUM function, type =sum() into a cell. The cell references of the cells you want to add go within the parentheses. The AutoSUM button, which looks like the Greek letter sigma, will automatically put the SUM function into a cell.
The Greek letter delta (, or ∆) is often used to indicate such a change. If x is a variable we write x to stand for a change in the value of x. We sometimes refer to x as an increment in x. For example if the value of x changes from 3 to 3.01 we could write x = 3.01 3=0.01.
Go to Insert Symbol More Symbols. Go to Special Characters. Double-click the character that you want to insert. Select Close.
