The short answer is: yes. Converting a RAW file to JPEG affects the quality of the image itself. The only thing that changes is the format - raw files are typically converted to JPEGs so they can be viewed on devices like computers, phones, and cameras.
Is TIFF better than RAW? There isnt one type of file thats better than the other they simply have different uses. If youre going to do heavy editing, its better to shoot in RAW. But if youre going to be sharing the file, then its a good idea to convert it to a TIFF.

RAW doesnt compress or process image data, which means files in this format are larger. TIFF is a compression format that doesnt lose information, and its the largest of the three formats. The one you choose depends on what image information you want to keep, and if youre going to do the post-processing yourself.
You can process images with the camera and save them as JPEG images. As the RAW image itself does not change, you can apply different processing conditions to create any number of JPEG images from it.

RAW is a format found on many DSLR, mirrorless and compact cameras you can even find the setting on some smartphones these days. Its essentially an uncompressed file format. Click the menu button on your camera. Click Image Quality. Click RAW. Click Set.
Its because when you shoot in JPEG mode, your camera applies sharpening, contrast, color saturation, and all sorts of little tweaks to create a fully processed, good-looking final image.
A raw file is high-bit (usually 12 or 14 bits of information) but a camera-generated TIFF file will be automatically converted by the camera (compressed, downsampled) to 8 bits. The raw file has no embedded color balance or color space, but the TIFF has both.
