What is a new chemical? For purposes of regulation under TSCA, if a chemical is on the TSCA Inventory, the substance is considered an existing chemical substance in U.S. commerce. Any chemical that is not on the Inventory is considered a new chemical substance.

What are naturally occurring substances in TSCA inventory?

Under 40 CFR 710.4(b) a naturally occurring substances is one (1) which is (i) unprocessed or (ii) processed only by manual, mechanical, or gravitational means; by dissolution in water; by flotation; or by heating solely to remove water; or (2) which is extracted from air by any means.
