This summer, children in the Rio Grande Valley attended a UTRGV chess camp to enhance their chess skills. Parents enrolled their kids, including two sons of one participant, eager to learn from top instructors. The camp was led by Grand Master Alex Mistah, the UTRGV chess program manager, along with assistance from fellow Grand Master Vladimir Bellow. Eighteen students participated in various chess activities, including tournaments and puzzle-solving. The camp emphasized that many members of the UTRGV chess team began their journey at similar camps, highlighting the growth and development of young players through expert training and peer competition.
