5. Can you reapply to medical school with the same letters of recommendation? Yes. But AMCAS doesnt hold them on file, so youll have to resubmit your rec letters with your new application.
The date is not likely to matter much. The recommendation letter is not written by you the applicant. It is written by someone who knows you. If that person messed up and put down the wrong date, this is a reflection on their attention to detail, not yours.
If you need to make changes to a submitted recommendation, you can do so only if the applicant has not submitted their final application to their school. If the applicant has submitted their final application, the school has already received the recommendation and changes cannot be made.
These letters are to be sent directly to AMCAS by individual professors or by your school via a letter packet. A committee letter: Some schools have a pre-health committee or pre-health advisor who writes a letter representing your schools evaluation of you.
If you still work regularly with a previous letter writer, its a good idea to request an update. For example, say youve continued to work hard in a lab for the past 2 years and have recently added two new publications and a presentation.
Just send them an e-mail back letting them know about the issue. Probably they have sent out multiple letters whilst forgetting to update the date, so they might be happy to be notified so they can correct it for everyone.
College applications usually prefer the recommendations from current or junior year teachers. But if you are applying for a job, a recommendation from a person you worked for/with several years ago could still be very relevant.
Fantastic letters come from recommenders who can write about your specific traits and talents. Provide them with a copy of your CV or rsum, a personal statement, and any other materials that will remind them about what youve achieved. Also let them know which medical programs youre applying to and why.
