(upbeat music) - In the first module we discussed general issues of classroom management and the second we presented a framework for classroom behavior management that included three levels, universal strategies applied to all students, selected strategies to respond to students or situations at risk for disruption, and intensive strategies for a smaller number of students already engaging in disruptive behavior. Dealing with challenging behavior is not simply a matter of applying predetermined recipes to classroom behavior. Each student and situation we face in the classroom is unique. In order to respond effectively to challenging behavior we need to understand the context of the behavior. In this module, we will work through a four step model for understanding and intervening with students who are displaying emotional and behavioral problems called Functional Behavioral Assessment or FBA. By attempting to understand the causes of disruptive behavior before implementing an interventi
