Years ago when I first got into digital raw photography, my photo editing process was.. well, pretty much non-existent. I would open a raw image in Lightroom, I would scroll through the Develop panel, and I would move sliders left and right without really understanding what I should be doing and in what order in order to create a photograph out of the gray, dull, RAW image that I saw in front of me. After plenty of failed attempts, I realized that my process or lack thereof needed structure. A series of steps, each with its own clearly defined goal, so that anytime I would sit down to edit a photo, I would know where to start, where I was going next, and where I would ultimately finish. So today Im going to share with you my own 10 step RAW photo processing framework. It sounds rather official butits really not. These are simply the steps which work best for me and the way that I approach photo processing. By the way the focus of this video will be on the framework itself, so

Camera raw files dont have a profile in the conventional sense. While the sensor in a digital camera has a color signature, it does not have a conventional color profile.
When you first open a RAW in Photoshop, the docHub Camera RAW dialog will appear. To the right you will see the many adjustments you can make to prepare your image for the editing process.
The main advantage of shooting in RAW is that you end up with high-quality files to edit into the best possible image. Capturing and storing all the details that pass through your cameras sensors means RAW files contain a wider dynamic range and far greater color spectrum than JPEGs.
A raw image doesnt really have a defined color space. A raw file isnt even an image, at least when your camera records it. Instead, its a stream of information from the sensor.
After processing the raw image file using the features of the Camera Raw dialog box, You can choose to open a processed raw file in Photoshop Elements. You can then edit the file and save it in a Photoshop Elements supported format . The original raw file remains unaltered.
The sRGB gamut (range of colours that can be reproduced) meets or exceeds the gamut of almost all inkjet printers and computer monitors as well as most TV screens. This makes it the best colour space to use for images that will be viewed online or on computer monitors or TV sets, or printed outside the home.
RAW files are 16-bit files whereas JPEGs are 8-bit files, so a RAW file can contain as many as 65536 levels of each colour whereas a JPEG file can contain only 256 shades of each colour. When an image is saved as a RAW file, the digital camera actually captures 12-bits of colour and steps it up to 16-bits.
Step 1. Open docHub Bridge and navigate to where you have imported the images you would like to edit. Step 2. Right-click on the image to be edited, then select Open in Camera Raw from the menu.
If youre shooting in jpeg only, or JPEG + RAW, your camera will give you a choice of color space for the JPEGs. Id recommend using docHubRGB there. But again, if youre shooting RAW only, then you dont need to worry about any of the color space settings in your camera, they wont have any effect.
With the image open in Photoshop click the Filter menu where youll see the Camera Raw Filter option near to the top. Click this to open the image in docHub Camera Raw. After making your adjustments in Camera Raw, click the OK button to apply the adjustments to your image.
