How to Change sign in the BMI Chart

These are my assistants, Coleman and Phil. Theyre both around the same height, weight, and consequently, they have the same Body Mass Index or BMI. But if you split them open Damien Hirst style or just compare the results of their body scans you can see a slight difference. Phil has more body fat than Coleman, and Coleman has more muscle than Phil. Although BMI is a popular measure to assess if a persons weight might be putting them at risk for obesity-related diseases, its results can be pretty misleading and less nuanced than wed like. So the BMI is an index that looks at somebodys body weight divided by their height. So the formula is the body weight in kilograms divided by the height in square meters. 18.5 and below is underweight, 18.5 to 24.9 is your healthy range, 25 to 29.9 is overweight, and a BMI over 30 is classified as obese. With the idea being that the taller somebody is, the more they should weigh. Kinda weird how a single decimal point can separate being overweigh

BMI (body mass index), which is based on the height and weight of a person, is an inaccurate measure of body fat content and does not take into account muscle mass, bone density, overall body composition, and racial and sex differences, say researchers from the Perelman School of Medicine, University of Pennsylvania.
Body mass index (BMI) is a value derived from the mass (weight) and height of a person. The BMI is defined as the body mass divided by the square of the body height, and is expressed in units of kg/m2, resulting from mass in kilograms and height in metres.Body mass index. BMI Formula If you know what your weight is in pounds and what your height is in inches, you can still calculate your BMI. You need to divide your weight in pounds by your height in inches squared. You then need to multiply the amount by 703. You can also use our BMI calculator to quickly find out your BMI.
The 2022 CDC Extended BMI-for-Age Growth Charts will allow providers to optimize care for children and adolescents with very high BMIs (above the 97th percentile). Growth charts for children and adolescents without obesity and their recommended use have not changed.
What Does Your BMI Number Mean? BMI below 18.5 = Underweight. BMI 18.5 to 24.9 = Normal weight. BMI 25.0 to 29.9 = Overweight. BMI 30.0 and higher = Obese. BMI 40 and higher = Morbidly obese.
BMI Limitations BMI calculations and charts dont adjust for your gender, age, race, ethnicity and other factors, which can impact your body fat and muscleand therefore skew your BMI higher or lower.
If your BMI is less than 18.5, it falls within the underweight range. If your BMI is 18.5 to 24.9, it falls within the Healthy Weight range. If your BMI is 25.0 to 29.9, it falls within the overweight range. If your BMI is 30.0 or higher, it falls within the obese range.
The formula for BMI is weight in kilograms divided by height in meters squared. If height has been measured in centimeters, divide by 100 to convert this to meters. When using English measurements, pounds should be divided by inches squared. This should then be multiplied by 703 to convert from lbs/inches2 to kg/m2.
