We have a free MoU template for groups to use. Not-for-profit organizations work together to help make the world a better place. But behind every good collaboration is a good agreement. Thats where MOUs come in. An MoU (or Memorandum of Understanding) is used when groups want to work together but dont need a formal contract. Its a less formal way for groups to work together. An MoU usually covers off on common values and a shared vision, and sets up a framework for how the groups can work together. In our free legal advice service we receive many enquiries about MOUs that usually end with is there a template available? We listened and we published a template MOU earlier this year. you can access it at .nfplaw.org.au/MOU

Every memorandum of understanding template will be slightly different, but there are a few basic elements that you should include. The organisations involved in the partnership. Beginning and ending dates of the agreement. Context or reasoning behind your agreement. Names and contact details of the key individuals involved.
If the memorandum of understanding became a contract it will incur the same consequences of a normal contract. Upon the bdocHub, you could be sued, ordered to pay the other party damages or reimburse their legal costs. You require legal advice if the situation escalates further than anticipated.
Any changes must be made in writing to be enforceable by a team member with authority. The Parties will, at the very least, review the MOU once every year, or sooner if mutually agreed upon. Any modifications to the MOU, including those pertaining to any timeframes, will be detailed in writing.
Amendment: For example; the memorandum of understanding may be amended on the initiative of either party by submitting a proposed amendment in writing to the other party and agreement of that party to the amendment.
Provide the full legal names, addresses, and contact information of each organisation or individual. This section should also state the intent to form a relationship between the parties and outline the purpose of the MOU. Define the Scope and Objectives - Define the agreements purpose in more detail.
The steps for terminating an MOU are relatively simple. The parties simply need to agree on the termination and notify the other party in writing. Once the termination is agreed upon, each party needs to provide written notification of the termination to the other party.
A memorandum of understanding is an agreement between two or more parties outlined in a formal document. It is not necessarily legally binding, which depends on the signatories intent and the language in the agreement, but signals the willingness of the parties to move forward with a contract.
