Office files can edited in the browser or the Office app. If you want to edit an attachment thats an unsupported file type, youll have to download and open the file to edit it. Select the message, calendar item or task that contains your attachment. Next to the attachment, select the and choose Edit in Browser.
To enable Edit mode, select the Allow editing directly in cells check box. To disable Edit mode, clear the Allow editing directly in cells check box.
Update a file uploaded from your computer or mobile device Select the Attachments icon in the right panel. Hover over the attachment that you want to update and go to Menu icon Download File. Once youve edited the file, locate the now out of date version in Smartsheet and select Upload New Version.
General Troubleshooting Ensure the Excel file is not open in any other location. Check that you have the appropriate permissions to edit the file. Verify that your file isnt corrupted. Ensure your Excel software is updated.
