hi my name is debra richardson of debra r richardson llc and i work with you to help you clean up your vendor data clean up your vendor processes and pay the right vendor now this weeks vendor master file tip of the week is what has changed on the 1099 misc and the 1099 nec for the 2021 tax year because it would have been too much like right for them to stay exactly the same so lets take a look at what has changed so were going to look at the 1099 in ec first and as you can see heres a version of the 2020 form as well as the version of the 2021 form and they are back to back and we are looking at copy b for the recipient now the big change occurred in 2020 when this form was reintroduced and non-employee compensation was moved from 1099 box seven to box one of the 1099 nec this year however on the 1099 nec has uh has changed so again introduce a form last year and now its already has a change so actually a couple of changes so lets look at that so the first change is kind of obvi

How do I file a manual amendment after I e-file? Order 1099-MISC IRS forms online at IRS Online Ordering for Information Returns and Employer Returns or over the phone at 800.829. Fill out the 1099-MISC form and be sure to select the Corrected checkbox. Mail the form to the IRS.
If this happens, or if the information on the form is wrong, contact the issuer of the Form 1099-K immediately. The issuers name appears in the upper left corner on the form along with their phone number. Taxpayers should keep a copy of all correspondence with the issuer for their records.
If you discover that you filed a 1099 with the incorrect payer name, address, and/or taxpayer identification number (TIN), you must write a letter to the IRS/ECC-MTB to correct the form. The letter must contain the following information: Name and address of payer.
If theres a mistake, call the client immediately and request a corrected Form 1099. If the 1099 has been filed with the IRS, ask the client to send the IRS a corrected 1099. You dont want the IRS to think you were paid more than you really owe.
If you already mailed or eFiled your form 1099s to the IRS and now need to make a correction, you will need to file by paper copy a Red Copy A and 1096, fill out and mail to the IRS, if you need further assistance preparing your corrected paper copy, please contact your local tax provider or call the IRS at (800) 829-
