For most U of T programs, students who have completed up to two years of study can be granted a maximum of 10 full-course transfer credits. You can check which of your courses might transfer to U of T through the Transfer Explorer (external link). Transfer credit is assessed after admission.
If you would like to change to an open program, you can use the Change feature on ACORN. You can also simply delete an active program, and use the Add a New Program feature to enrol in a new one.
Students may add courses or drop courses without academic penalty through ROSI up to the dates stated in the Sessional Dates section of this Calendar. The deadlines for adding or dropping courses are strictly applied.
To change majors within your current college, consult with the academic advisor for the new major regarding program requirements and the procedure to declare the major. There may be restrictions on the time of the semester for declaring a major or changing colleges.
It has also been possible for students to switch courses after one year of study, by abandoning their current course and starting a new course entirely. Remember though, youll still have the fees to pay for the first year of study you completed on the course you didnt enjoy
Most universities will allow you to switch in the first term and you can just catch up on work but leave it longer and you might have to apply to start again from scratch next year.
Click the gear icon on the top right hand corner of the program you want to drop. Select Remove Program from the drop-down menu that appears, and confirm your selection. In the search box, type in your program name, select the appropriate UTSC program, and confirm your selection.
