Raw files produce high quality results. You can recover the highlight and shadow detail in a raw file to a far greater level compared with a JPEG, giving improved dynamic range. You can extensively edit raw files to boost the tone, sharpen the image, and make many other basic image adjustments.
With JPEG files, the white balance is already balanced. This is a big reason why JPEGs look more finished than their RAW counterparts straight off the camera. “A change you can make in a one-step increment in Lightroom, like white balance, you can only make in a five-step increment with JPEGs,” Morrison points out.
RAW means that Windows is expecting the printer to be ready for the format (PCL or PS) that it is sending to the printer. It's a straight dump to the printer. LPR uses a small client/server model to communicate with the print spooler. It basically uses a small client to relay the data to the print server's daemon.
It is usually better to convert raw files and edit them in an application like Adobe Photoshop or Photoshop Elements before making prints....Why Shoot Raw Files? Raw files are like digital negatives. ... Raw files allow you to extract much more image data to work with. ... Raw files don't have any white balance settings.
All raw files require subsequent editing so, unless you want to edit your digital images, there is little point in shooting raw files.

The RAW format is ideal if you are shooting with the intent of editing the images later. Shots where you are trying to capture a lot of detail or color, and images where you want to tweak light and shadow, should be shot in RAW.
Raw files allow you to extract much more image data to work with. When you shoot JPEGs, you are stuck with a bit depth of 8 – which is equivalent to 256 brightness levels. Shooting raw files gives you the option of converting them into 16-bit images which means the file has 65,536 levels of brightness.
The age-old question remains “Should I be shooting my images in RAW or JPEG?”. The answer to that question really boils down to your end goal. If you are taking your camera out with the intent to capture high-quality imagery for printing purposes, RAW should always be your go-to.
