such a good question what is considered a substantial change in circumstances that you need in order to modify custody so to modify custody you have to number one wait at least one year and number two show that there is a substantial change of circumstance that has occurred so that means you need to articulate something that has changed this is super subjective its mostly important that you write it down so maybe the change is your childs much older and they have different needs maybe the changes theres different schools maybe one parent has moved Maybe there has to be something that you articulate that is different that warrants you asking you cant just say I want to do over everythings exactly the same and a lot of this comes down to how you plead it so talk to your attorney and if you dont have an attorney youre doing it yourself maybe get a consultation if youre unsure because its really important that you have this information and this language in your pleading Im Billy
