In this tutorial, the process of isolating a model in Photoshop is outlined. Start by duplicating the background layer (CTRL + J) and hiding the top layer. Use the Lasso Tool (L) to select around the model, then fill the selection with Content-Aware (right-click, Fill). Deselect (CTRL + D) and make the top layer visible. Choose the Quick Selection Tool (W) to select the model, then use Select and Mask to refine the selection, focusing on the hair, and output to a Layer Mask. Once the model is on a separate background, duplicate the top layer (CTRL + J), apply the layer mask, hide the middle layer, and rename the new layer to “Dispersion Effect.” Finally, duplicate this layer again (CTRL + J) and rename it “Man,” then navigate to Filter - Liquify.
