Always show images On your computer, go to Gmail. See all settings. Scroll down to the Images section. Click Always display external images.
To attach a photo or file to an email, tap the paperclip icon in the bottom right-hand corner of the compose screen. You can attach a recent file or a Dropbox/Box/OneDrive/Google Drive file, a file or photo from your device, or take a new photo.
The most common reason for images displaying as attachments is that some messages are sent in a plain text format instead of HTML format. As the plain text format does not support embedding or viewing images, all images are automatically attached to the message.
Insert a picture into the body of an email message Select Insert Pictures. Browse your computer or online file locations for the picture you want to insert. Select the picture, then select Insert.
Position your cursor where you want the image in your message. In the ribbon, select Insert Pictures. Browse your computer or online file locations for the picture you want to insert. Select the picture, then select Insert.
When creating your email signature, be sure to host your images on a web server and link to them from your email signature, instead of embedding them into the signature itself.
Open an email that has attachments. Click Edit Message, to put the email in editable mode. Open one of the attachments (e.g. Word or Excel document) Edit the document and click save, at which point the email is updated with the modified version of the document.
Images in your signature appearing as attachments are often caused by Microsoft Office365 or Outlook email servers. If these servers dont accept the images, they appear as attachments. One potential workaround, would be hosting or linking images so that your email server will accept the image.
