An EPUB file (short for electronic publication) is in the Open eBook file format. You can download EPUB files and read them on your smartphone, tablet, e-reader, or computer. This freely available eBook standard supports more hardware eBook readers than any other file format.
Editing an EPUB. An EPUB is essentially a ZIP file containing nested folders with XHTML text, images, Cascading Style Sheets (CSS), embedded fonts, and metadata files. Almost anyone can edit EPUB files with the help of an eBook editing tool, although some familiarity with hypertext markup language (HTML) is helpful.
An epub is just a zip file containing XHTML text files, images, and other resources. You can edit the XHTML files directly if you are a coder or know how to edit HTML. Even if you have no experience editing HTML you can still quickly make changes to your epub with a simple WYSIWYG editor called Sigil.
It doesn't matter if somebody is reading your book from a tablet or a phone; it will always be displayed correctly. You still have chapters and paragraphs, you can have formatting and images, but the text will always perfectly fill your screen.
Select any book that shows it has no cover, right click on it, and select "Get Info." Select the "Artwork" tab. Drag and drop any image into the white box on the artwork tab and click Okay. Voila!
Locate the book you want to update and click once on it to select it. Then locate the new cover image on your desktop, click on it, and drag it onto the book in the Books app. You will be asked to confirm whether you want to change this book's cover. Understand that the original cover will be lost for good.
