What does that mean, and how do we fix it? Well, non-monotonic just means that its not monotone. A robot speaks in a monotone voice. I am a robot. Right, the voice doesnt go up. It doesnt go down. The pitch is always moving in one direction. If you were speaking in a not monotone voice, your voice wouldnt be going up and down normally.
