A medical school update letter is an extra bit of you for the admissions committee to read and learn about. A medical school update letter or medical school letter of intent gets added to your file, and many (but not all) schools will re-examine your application upon receipt of these documents.
An update letter provides more information to improve your application. The improvement might be new coursework or a substantial project through one of your extracurriculars. Updates or letters of intent are most useful after a school has interviewed you.
If a student has a new accomplishment or award, it makes sense to share this news with the colleges. Students should send an email to the Admission Representative that they have been working with. If they dont know who their Admission Rep is, or dont have contact information for them, they can look it up.
Updates to your medical school application will only be accepted when you submit your secondary application.
Application Submission All application materials become the property of Harvard Medical School. If you would like to provide an update to the Committee on Admissions, our office will accept updates through the Application Updates tab on the admissions portal. Applicants may provide two updates to the Committee.
Update letters disclose updates on achievements, awards, and endeavors to the admissions committee, whereas. A letter of interest or a letter of intent (LOIs) reaffirm and strengthen your interest in the school. These letters should explain why you want an interview or acceptance at that particular medical school.
This can include activities such as research projects, new honors and awards, any publication accolades, progress or status updates with extracurriculars, a new job, or additional responsibilities you have undertaken at work. Medical school admissions committees like to see students continuing to pursue their goals.
Update letters are typically one page long. Provide the update on your activities and express your continued enthusiasm for the schools program, identifying clear links between specific aspects of their program and your experiences and interests.
