When creating a new commit, ensure the commit-msg hook has been installed in your repository (see above), and dont put a Change-Id line in the commit message. When you exit the editor, git will call the hook, which will automatically generate and insert a unique Change-Id line. Change-Ids - Gerrit Code Review Google Open Source user-changeid Google Open Source user-changeid
First, you would need to pull the latest changes from your repository, you can do this by using git pull or git pull origin [branchname] . In your terminal, run the git log command, which will show you a history of your commits. Find the commit hash (commit ID) that you want to revert back to.
To squash the commits, use git rebase -i to do an interactive rebase. For the example above where the last two commits have the same Change-Id, this means an interactive rebase for the last two commits should be done. same Change-Id in multiple changes - gerrit-review googlesource.com Documentation googlesource.com Documentation
Looking up changes for a specific commit If you have the hash for a commit, you can use the git show command to display the changes for that single commit. The output is identical to each individual commit when using git log -p . Viewing the commit history of a Git repository - DeployHQ deployhq.com viewing-previous-commits deployhq.com viewing-previous-commits
By running git log -p , youll get the same list as before, however each commit will have a list of the files that have been added/modified/removed, as well as the actual changes themselves.
You can run the git status command at any time for a list of files that have been added, changed, or removed inside your working directory. Every change you make isnt automatically included when you commit.
Updating an old commit If a commit was created before the availability of Change-Id support, or was created in a Git repository that was missing the commit-msg hook, simply copy the Change-Id: I line from the first line of the Description section of the change and amend it to the bottom of the commit message. Gerrit Code Review - Change-Ids - OSM (etsi.org) etsi.org Documentation user-changeid etsi.org Documentation user-changeid
Git Commit History The git show command is used to view the changes of a specific commit: For example, I can type git show 0f8497 to see the log message and the changes that occurred in this specific commit. To see the changes made in the last commit without using a hash, you can use the git show HEAD command.
