2 Answers Make the front page its own section. From the Document Setup inspector, choose. Section Create a new section. With the new section selection, deselect Headers Footers Match previous section. Customise the header on the first page as you desire.
On your second page, visit the Section tab of the Documents panel, and deselect Match previous section. That will suppress any first page header/footer from appearing on subsequent pages.
Start page numbering later in your document Go to Insert Header or Footer Edit Header or Edit Footer. Select Different First Page. In the header or footer area, you should see a label on the first page that says First Page Header. Select Close Header and Footer or press Esc to exit.
Double-click inside the header or footer area. Select the text you want to change and type your new header or footer in its place. Select Close Header and Footer or double-click anywhere outside of the header or footer area to exit.
Select Insert Header Footer. On the right side of the white area at the top of the document area, select Options Different Even Odd Pages. Type the text you want to appear on even pages.
Click or tap the page at the beginning of a section. Select Layout Breaks Next Page. Double-click the header or footer on the first page of the new section. Click Link to Previous to turn it off and unlink the header or footer from the previous section.
Place your cursor in the first page of the document or the first page of the section. Double-click inside the header or footer area to open the Header Footer tab (see figure 8). Select Different First Page in the Options group.
Different First Page Header Word has an option for this. While your cursor is in the Header, choose the Design tab under Header Footer Tools then select the checkbox next to Different first page. This allows you to have a special header on the first page of your document.
Sometimes you need your first page Header to be different from the rest of your paper. Word has an option for this. While your cursor is in the Header, choose the Design tab under Header Footer Tools then select the checkbox next to Different first page.
Click on your page / close the header. Wherever you want your header to change, click your cursor at the end of the copy on the previous page and insert a section break, next page. You do this by using the drop down menu. Click Insert/Breaks/Section Break (Next Page).
