Leave without pay means to be absent from duty with the Employers permission but without pay. Benefits and entitlements will be continued during the term of leave of absence without pay unless otherwise expressly provided in this Agreement or in the applicable benefit plan.
Leave of absence without pay describes an unpaid leave of absence that may be approved for the following reasons: Educational leave. Leave for government service in public interest. Volunteer or community service.
The term used for unpaid leave in ERPNext is Leave Without Pay (LWP). These leaves does have impact on the Employees Salary Slip. Just marking Absent in the Attendance record do not have impact on salary calculation of an Employee, as that absenteeism could be because of paid leave.
LWP or LOP is usually on the gross salary. Some org such as ours, considering as a welfare measure, do have a leverage on this wherein for LOP within 5 days, the Basic and DA is only deducted and other components such as HRA, conv etc are not deducted.
LWOP may be granted upon the employees request and covers only those hours that the employee would normally work or for which the employee would normally be paid. FLSAexempt employees must take LWOP in 1day increments except when they are taking leave protected under the Family and Medical Leave Act (FMLA).
