In this video, we learn how to convert decimal numbers into binary numbers using the powers of two. For the example of converting 75 into binary, we start with the highest base 2 number less than 75, which is 64. Two methods are explained in the video - subtraction and successive division - to convert decimal numbers to binary. By familiarizing ourselves with the powers of two, we can easily convert decimal numbers to binary using either method.

Step-1 First we need to multiply 0 with 2 and add the 1st digit in binary number. Step-2 Now use the result of above step and multiply with 2 and add the second digit of binary number. The same step 2 is repeated until there will be no digit left. The final result will be the resultant decimal number.
Example 1: Binary number ABinary number BResult111 + 1 = 011Carry + 1 + 1 = 101Carry + 1 = 000Carry + 0 + 0 = 13 more rows
One of the methods to convert decimal to binary is by dividing the given decimal number recursively by 2. Then, the remainders are noted down till we get 0 as the final quotient. After this step, these remainders are written in reverse order to get the binary value of the given decimal number.
To convert a binary number to decimal we need to perform a multiplication operation on each digit of a binary number from right to left with powers of 2 starting from 0 and add each result to get the decimal number of it.
Binary number 000000+0+0+09010010+8+0+0+110010100+8+0+2+011010110+8+0+2+112011000+8+4+0+026 more rows
There are mainly two methods to convert a binary number into decimal number − using positional notation, and using doubling.
1111 in binary is 10001010111. Unlike the decimal number system where we use the digits 0 to 9 to represent a number, in a binary system, we use only 2 digits that are 0 and 1 (bits). We have used 11 bits to represent 1111 in binary.
It is important to convert a value from one number system to another number system. With this, we would be in a position to tell when the two different values will represent a similar amount. In the conversion of Decimal to Binary, we convert base 10 numbers to base 2 numbers using a simple procedure.
Take decimal number as dividend. Divide this number by 2 (2 is base of binary so divisor here). Store the remainder in an array (it will be either 0 or 1 because of divisor 2). Repeat the above two steps until the number is greater than zero.
Binary Formula Binary numbers follow the same set of rules as the decimal numbering system. The Binary Numbering System contains only 0's and 1's. A binary number such as 101100101 is expressed with a string of 0's and 1's with each digit having a value twice that of the previous digit.
