[Music] [Applause] okay since todays video were gonna have a look at changing the subject of a formula so Garrett grab some paper grow up with a pen make some notes and were gonna get started so this is gonna be making X subjects of the formula so Ive got y equals 3x plus 4 so basically we want to isolate the X so its on its own so at the moment its stuck to the 3 and then theres an AB 4 so its getting x by 3 and then add 4 so we just want to reverse exactly what weve done there so the first thing we do to the X is we times it by 3 and then weve added 4 so to reverse that we can take away the 4 from both sides and move that piece over to the left so if we just write down what were doing well take away 4 from both sides and we get Y minus 4 equals 3x there we go its all we need to do is get rid of the 3 now so thats one more step and that it just means dividing by 3 so dividing by 3 now if we can write divide by 3 on both sides and to write this Y minus 4 divide it by 3 w
