- When youre buying a property its very important to make sure you know what name is actually going on the contract. Now that may seem obvious or a little bit crazy to say, but we often have people who are unsure if its going to go in one persons name or both parties names, for example husband and wife. One name only, both names. Two brothers, one name or both names. Or individual names, or a company, or a business name, or a superannuation fund, family trust. A whole range of different things. Whats important is that before you come to purchase the property, that you check with your broker, your solicitor, perhaps your accountant, as to what name will actually go on the contract for sale, because its a legally binding document. We had one incident recently, people bought a property at auction. They wanted to change from an individual name into a company name. The perception was, quite simple to do, but when youve entered a binding contract at auction with no cooling-off period

Florida allows you to change your name on a marriage license application form. The forms differ by locality, but you can generally just fill in your new name and list your former name on the form. Your marriage license can be used to change your name on: Your drivers license.
As a person getting married, you can take the marriage certificate to the ss office and the license bureau and they will change the last name on those documents. It will not change your first and middle names. As stated previously, that requires a court appearance and order to do so.
In rare instances, the groom takes the brides last name. Then there are couples who create an entirely new last name. Bottom line: As long as the legal name change doesnt involve an attempt to defraud, you can pretty much choose to call yourselves whatever you want.
You can either change the bridegrooms name before marriage using a deed poll, or change both husbands and wifes names after marriage. You can date your deed polls so that your names change on your wedding day.
Once you are married, you can change your name to your spouses name at any time you wantimmediately or months or years later. Whenever you do it, your marriage certificate is the proof you need to show.
You may have to get a court-ordered name change if you want to change your first name, or if you want get a different last name like: a merged name that combines both spouses last names; a family name thats different from either spouses last name; or. an entirely new last name.
