for almost 30 years community services for the developmentally disabled has been helping people with disabilities and their families overcome barriers weve helped people achieve so many goals like getting their first job or moving into their own apartment but we realized throughout the years that having the words developmental disabilities in our name our checks on our business cards tells the public that the person were helping has a disability so were losing the label and changing the agency name were no longer going to be community services for the developmentally disabled before we decided on the new name we talked to focus groups of people we support families employees board members and all of those discussions came back to two words community services although our name is changing our goals remain the same we have always been and will continue to be an agency that helps all people achieve their dreams and become more independent that is now better reflected in our new name co
