In UML, an inheritance relationship is represented by an arrow with a triangular tip pointing from the derived class to the base class.
In UML models, attributes represent the information, data, or properties that belong to instances of a classifier. A classifier can have any number of attributes or none at all. Attributes describe a value or a range of values that instances of the classifier can hold.
Inheritance. A very important concept in object-oriented design, inheritance, refers to the ability of one class (child class) to inherit the identical functionality of another class (super class), and then add new functionality of its own.
1. Association between two objects that illustrate the “has-a” relationship is called Aggregation. A composition defines a part-of a relationship, and both the entities are connected to each other. 2.
Steps: In the diagram, select the element, and then click on the element. The color of the control depends on the type of the item. Press F2, type the name of the attribute, operation, or literal, and press Enter.
Add an attribute. Double-click the shape in a diagram that represents the element. The Properties dialog box opens. Select a blank row and start typing a name, then type or choose the attribute properties you want.
On a class diagram, public messages (and any public attributes) are shown with a plus sign ( ) in front of them. Methods also have parentheses after them, indicating that data may be passed as parameters along with the message. The message parameters, as well as the type of data, may be included on the class diagram.
Inheritance/Generalization refers to a type of relationship wherein one associated class is a child of another by virtue of assuming the same functionalities of the parent class. In other words, the child class is a specific type of the parent class.
It can associate one more objects together. In an aggregation relationship, the associated objects exist independently within the scope of the system.
