Is there a fee for requesting health records? Generally no, but you may be charged for special processing of your request. For example, courier fees, special delivery, or other special processing services.
Fulfilling a request for copying and transferring medical records is an uninsured service. As such, physicians are entitled to charge patients or third parties a fee for obtaining a copy or summary of their medical record.
A custodian can charge a fee to access or transfer your health records. However, they have the discretion to waive the fee. If the custodian is going to charge you a fee, they must first provide you with an estimate.

Fees range very widely, from $2-55 for short records of 15 pages to $15-585 for long ones of 500 pages. Times also range widely, from 130 days (or longer for off-site records). A few institutions provide records for free and even fewer make them accessible on-line.
Ask the doctor for a copy of your records. They may charge you a fee to copy them, as the Medical Services Plan does not pay for it. Doctors of BC sets approximate fees in its fee guide. Alternatively, you could ask to take a picture of the records with your phone.
