The good news is that the letters of recommendation section of the AMCAS application is one of the few sections that can be modified after submission (along with your contact information and list of schools). Logging back into your application will allow you to request additional letters of recommendation.
Letters of evaluation (although please note that you can only make additions of up to 10 letters, and you must notify the AMCAS program if you have a letter you wish to no longer be sent to medical schools; you cannot delete letters of evaluation from your application). You may add a new letter after your application has been submitted, but you cannot delete or change existing letter entries.
Letters of recommendation are a crucial piece of the medical school application. Some argue theyre even more important than the personal statement since the personal statement is naturally biased. After all, a personal statement is all about trying to paint yourself in the absolute best light.
Letters of recommendation, on the other hand, are more like supplemental materials, and are not necessary for verifying your application. So, you can submit your application prior to or on the due date even if your letters of recommendation havent yet been received by AMCAS.
When you feel confident that your primary application is strong, take time to double- and triple-check everything. Once you hit the submit button, youre not allowed to change most parts of your application.
After the initial submission of your application, you may only make changes to the following information: Your ID numbers. Your name, including full legal name, preferred name, and alternate names. Your contact Information, including your permanent address, preferred mailing address, and email address.
You are not required to assign letters of evaluation to a medical school prior to submitting your AMCAS application. However, after you submit your application, letter assignments cannot be changed. So I already knew you can modify this section after submitting.
