Pursuant to California Rule of Court 8.100(b), a Notice of Appeal must be accompanied by a $775 filing fee. This filing fee is received by the Superior Court and transferred to the District Court of Appeal.
Most appeals are started by filing a Notice of Appeal with the Clerk of the lower court or administrative agency within the time limits specified by the Florida Rules of Appellate Procedure (usually 30 days). You must also pay the necessary filing fees which are established by the State of Florida.
The filing fee is $710, as specified by Government Code sections 68926.1 and 68927. This fee is not charged for petitions in criminal matters, juvenile matters or certain other cases involving minors or conservatorship proceedings.
Unless exempt by law or on the basis of indigency, the filing fee due to the First District Court of Appeal for a new case is $300.00 and the filing fee for a notice of cross appeal, notice of joinder, or motion to intervene in an appeal is $295.00.
The filing fee for appeals and original proceedings in the district court of appeal is $300. 35.22(2)(a), Fla. Stat.
If the outcome of your case might have been different if you had had effective counsel, you may have grounds for appeal. The prosecutor acted unethically or made errors. It is up to the court of appeals to decide if these mistakes led to an unfair conviction. The judge made mistakes in pretrial rulings or at trial.

There is no set time period for an appeal to be resolved. After the briefing is completed, the Court will set a case for oral argument or conference as the Courts schedule will allow. Each case is considered individually and the length of time for the Court to render a decision will depend on the facts of the case.
