When you indent text in a cell in Microsoft Excel, you are creating a visual effect that can make data easier to read. By default, cells in Excel are left-aligned, which means that the text is flush with the left edge of the cell. When you indent text in a cell, you are essentially creating a margin within the cell.
Under the Home tab, in the Alignment group, click the Increase Indent icon (right-facing arrow pointing towards lines that resemble text). Each time you click the button, the selected text will indent further to the right.
Keyboard Shortcut for Adding Indent Increase Indent: Alt ➜ H ➜ 6. Decrease Indent: Alt ➜ H ➜ 5.
The fastest way to indent is to use the Tab key. An alternative method is to use one of the Indent commands. With these commands, you can either increase or decrease the indent. To indent using the Tab key: Place the insertion point at the very beginning of the line you want to indent, then press the Tab key.
Each time you press the Spacebar key while holding down Shift, the text will be indented one space. You can also use the Indent button on the Home tab of the Ribbon to indent text. To do this, simply select the cells that you want to indent and then click the Indent button.
Indent paragraph with shortcut key A complete paragraph can be indented with the keyboard shortcut Ctrl + M and pressing the keyboard shortcut more than once will indent the paragraph further. To reverse the indent, you can also press Ctrl + Shift + M .
Heres how to do it: Select the cell or cells you want to indent. Press and hold the Alt key. While holding down the Alt key, press the = (equal sign) key on the keyboard. Release the Alt key. The cell or cells will be indented.
1. Ctrl + Shift + This shortcut will decrease the indent level of the selected cells. 2. Ctrl + Shift + This shortcut will increase the indent level of the selected cells.
