Hey this is Ralph in this video I want to show you how easy it is to insert charts into Microsoft Word. Not long ago I had to create a large document that had over a dozen different charts, and it was pretty easy to do in Word and it was also easy to make them look good. So basically in my Word document, Im going to head right over to the insert ribbon and Im going to choose chart. Now I think for this example Ill just do a default column, clustered column chart, works pretty much the same for all the others, and click okay. Now when you do this, Word is going to give you this little baby like Excel spreadsheet to work with, and for quick charts, thats probably not a bad way to go. However, what I like to do since I like Excel, I click this little button right here to edit the data in Microsoft Excel. Thats going to open up an, a true Excel client interface which is much more practical. So for some of my charts, I already had them created on a spread

Right-click the field code that you want to edit, and then click Edit Field. In the Field dialog box, click Field Codes. In the Field codes box, make the changes that you want to the merge field.
In the chart, select a data series. For example, in a column chart, click a column, and all the columns of that data series become selected. Select Chart Design > Select Data. In the Select Data Source dialog box, next to Legend entries (Series), use the up and down arrows to move the series up or down in the list.

Edit a chart in Word Select the chart. Go to Chart Design or Chart Tools Design > Data > Edit Data and choose one of the following: Choose Edit Data to edit the chart in Word. Choose Edit Data in Excel.
If you need to edit the data again, click the chart to select it, click the Chart Design tab at the top, and then click Edit Data on the toolbar.
