How much notice of their intention to vacate must a tenant give the landlord? The tenant must give written notice, as required by the lease, generally one month for single-family units and two months for multi-family units. Consult the lease for a definitive answer.

In Maryland, landlords can charge for painting, except for normal wear and tear. For example, if the tenant: Causes damage beyond normal wear and tear. Repaints the wall but is not permitted to do so under the lease agreement.
The inspection must be within five days before or five days after your move-out date. The landlord must disclose these rights to you in writing when you pay the security deposit. If not, the landlord forfeits the right to withhold any part of the security deposit for damages.
Every landlord in Maryland has up to 45 days to return any used amount of the security deposit -plus interest-. Landlords must also provide the tenant with an itemized list of any damages deducted from the deposit, including any unpaid rent. The 45 days begin the day the lease ends.
