The seller of a vehicle for which a junking certificate has been applied for or issued shall disclose such fact in writing to any prospective buyers before sale of such vehicle; otherwise the sale shall be voidable at the option of the buyer.
How do I get a bill of sale? Missouri will allow buyers and sellers to create their own bills of sale for most items. Templates for a bill of sale are easy to find online, or you can write one yourself. They are also available at your local department of motor vehicles or county tax assessors office.
Missouri law requires that a motor vehicle must be titled (within 30 days of the purchase date) before it is either registered for highway use or transferred to another individual. If you do not have a properly assigned title (or Manufacturers Statement of Origin), you have no clear legal right to the vehicle.
Important Paperwork and Steps to Sell Your Vehicle in Missouri Certificate of title. Safety inspection certificate completed within the last 60 days. Emissions inspection completed within the last 60 days, if you reside in select counties including St. Lien release, if you currently have one against your title.
One of the following ownership documents: The Certificate of Title, properly signed over to you (see instructions), or Manufacturers Statement of Origin (MSO); Bill of Sale (Form 1957); Notice of Sale (Form 5049); or. A Missouri Application for Title and License (Form 108) signed by the dealer.
You must complete an Application for Missouri Title and License (Form 108) and submit the application by mail or at any Missouri license office. This is also a good time to add a Transfer on Death (TOD) beneficiary. Lienholder authorization is required to add or remove a name from a title if an outstanding lien exists.
The Bill of Sale needs to include the following information and should be docHubd: Year and Make of the Vehicle. Title number. Vehicle Identification Number (VIN) Date of Sale. Sale Price. Printed legal name and address of the seller and buyer. Signature of seller and buyer.
The seller must complete all applicable information and sign this form. The Bill of Sale or Even-Trade Bill of Sale must be docHubd when showing proof of ownership on major component parts of a rebuilt vehicle or when specifically requested to be docHubd by the Department of Revenue.
