Obtaining letters of recommendation can be a hassle, but admissions committees highly value the third-party insight they provide. Therefore, obtaining strong letters of recommendation is a critical part of the application process. Strong letters of rec can tip the scales in your favor if a school is on the fence, whereas weak letters can lead to a rejection. When you feel confident that your primary application is strong, take time to double- and triple-check everything. Once you hit the submit button, youre not allowed to change most parts of your application.
Just send them an e-mail back letting them know about the issue. Probably they have sent out multiple letters whilst forgetting to update the date, so they might be happy to be notified so they can correct it for everyone.
You are not required to assign letters of evaluation to a medical school prior to submitting your AMCAS application. However, after you submit your application, letter assignments cannot be changed. So I already knew you can modify this section after submitting.
After the initial submission of your application, you may only make changes to the following information: Your ID numbers. Your name, including full legal name, preferred name, and alternate names. Your contact Information, including your permanent address, preferred mailing address, and email address.
You may add a new letter after your application has been submitted, but you cannot delete or change existing letter entries.
You can speak to the writer of the letter and see if he or she will modify it. If not, you can seek another recommendation, and drop the problematic writer from your list of references.
Letters of recommendation, on the other hand, are more like supplemental materials, and are not necessary for verifying your application. So, you can submit your application prior to or on the due date even if your letters of recommendation havent yet been received by AMCAS.
At its core, an effective update letter accomplishes the following: It reminds medical schools that you still exist. It mentions any new and relevant professional achievements since submitting your application. It makes clear and concise connections between your new activities and the medical schools mission.
