if we have a chart where we want to add the years or months or some time period down on the horizontal axis rather than just having a series of one two three four five six etcetera up here down at the bottom what we want to do is click on the chart and as you can see were currently only charting out the in this case revenues one series of information here but what we want to do is add in the years that correspond to these revenues in this example so what were going to do is once weve clicked on the chart go over to design under chart tools and then click on select data okay and youre going to see here the horizontal axis labels appear now youll see that you currently have the 1 through 20 appearing down here but that doesnt tell us much so what we want to do is click edit to replace those with the actual years that tie to each data point lets select those click ok click ok again now you can see weve got the years lining up appropriately with each data point on the chart
