charting survey results in excel could be very tricky and a lot of time the quality of the chart or the visuals of the chart could lead to a very big difference in the quality of the discussion so for example if i show you here i have some survey results from strongly disagree to strongly agree and i have a few metrics a lot of time what we would do in excel is just select this and go to insert and then under insert you have here some 2d bars and then if you select this you can get this kind of charts if you see here i have the strongly agree and so on here i dont want them i want actually the opposite so i right click select data switch row and column and i get something like this if i look at this i have the number of people who are in each category for each type of metric the problem is if i show this in a meeting it is very hard to make anything of it and understand really what has happened right what should be the action course here its very hard to know so instead we can do som

Bar Chart. Bar charts are one of the most common data visualizations. You can use them to quickly compare data across categories, highlight differences, show trends and outliers, and reveal historical highs and lows at a glance.
5 Ways to Display Your Survey Results Bar graphs are the most popular way to display results. Line graphs show how results change over time by tracking the ups and downs of the data. Pie charts show the breakup of a whole into sections. Venn diagrams show the interaction between respondents and their answers.
Like pie charts, bar graphs are appropriate for both nominal (demographic) and ordinal (ranked) data. They display data at relative sizes, except the visual is a bar rather than a pie slice. For the best readability, you should arrange your bar categories sequentially from largest to smallest when using nominal data.
Both pie charts and bar graphs are designed to help you communicate your survey results, but to convey your findings as clearly and accurately as possible you need to choose your graphs carefully.
