Before you apply an amendment, check that the chart you are working on is up-to-date. To do this, check the charts last NM number in the bottom left corner of the chart. Then, using the magenta pen, making reference to Chart 5011, make the update and write the NM number in the bottom left hand corner in magenta pen.
Charts on ECDIS need to be updated and corrected on a regular basis. Unlike paper charts where the procedure involves manual insertion of the corrections, correction to ENCs are made automatically.

From start up-Menu (on the left bottom section in chartco), click on Corrections. Click on ENC (top bar) and corrections (Right side bar). This list will show you the pending corrections to your active cells. Click on the Collect and transfer to ECDIS at the bottom of the screen.
