Let's talk about character styles in Pages. Unlike regular styles that will style the entire paragraph, character styles can style just a word, a single character, a bunch of words, anything you want. They're very handy because once you've assign a style you can change it throughout the document. For instance, let's say we want to have a word that's going to have a certain style. Maybe it's going to be Bold, maybe it's going to use a different font, maybe it's even going to have a different color. Just like that. You can see here ignoring this style stuff at the top and just going down to character styles, you can see the character style assign is None with an asterisk which means that I've changed it from the basic none character style. I can click on this and there's a few that are already filled in but I can hit the Plus button here and create my own. Let's just call it Special for special words. Now you can see that the character style for this word is Special. If I select another...

To show characters, simply click on the 'words' box. You'll be able to see characters — with or without spaces — plus, the number of paragraphs. You can also select the text, and see the word count or character count of the specific section or paragraph. Fun tip: You can drag, and place that box anywhere on the page.
Find and replace text in a TextEdit document. In the TextEdit app on your Mac, choose Edit > Find > Find, then type text in the search field. You can also select text, then choose Edit > Find > Use Selection for Find.
Add and replace text in Pages on Mac For body text in a blank template: Just start typing. For body text in a template with placeholder text: Click the placeholder text to select it, then start typing. To remove placeholder text completely, click it, then press the Delete key on your keyboard.

Add content to an empty cell: Tap or double-tap it so you see the insertion point and the keyboard, then start typing. Edit content: Tap or double-tap the cell to make the insertion point appear. To move the insertion point, drag it to where you want to type. Replace specific text: Select the text, then type over it.
Tips: You can also open the basic Find and Replace pane with the keyboard shortcut CONTROL + H.
Show word, character, or paragraph count Tap. , then turn on Word Count. The word count appears near the bottom of the screen—you can drag it to a corner to reposition it. To see other statistics, tap the word counter. To display another statistic in the counter, tap it.
Enter special characters and symbols Click on the text where you want to place the character, then select Edit > Emoji and Symbols (or press Control-Command-Space bar). The Character Viewer appears where you clicked.
