hi wes scott from life back law firm today were going to talk about can i keep credit cards in my chapter 7 bankruptcy by dr danielle lynn a superstar at life back law firm um the answer is this when you file a bankruptcy whether its a chapter 7 or a chapter 13 really you know all these lenders out there have electronic fingers so lets say you owe mastercard 500 bucks and you say well im just going to pay it off that way i dont have to list it on my bankruptcy right that makes sense the problem is when you file the bankruptcy that mastercard even if its not listed as a creditor because you dont owe them any money is going to electronically pick up the pulse that you file the bankruptcy and theyre going to freeze your line of credit theyre going to close your card so that is the expectation you should have when you file a bankruptcy is that your lines of credit on all credit cards all bank lines of credit will be immediately frozen when you file now thats not to say you cant
